How a nursery within the grounds of a Welsh hospital have been providing childcare during the Covid-19 pandemic
Day care nurseries around Wales are preparing to re-open from next week. One of the few childcare settings in Wales that have been open throughout the Covid-19 pandemic is Funtazia Day Nursery, based within the grounds of Prince Charles Hospital, Merthyr Tydfil. The nursery have been providing an invaluable childcare service for key workers and vulnerable children during the pandemic.
Nichola Cronin, one of the owners, has been running the nursery for over 15 years and has never experienced anything like this: “These have been and continue to be challenging and difficult times.
“We have had to adapt and put new social distancing measures in place.
“The children have been busy decorating the front of the nursery where NHS staff walk past every day. The window display has received many compliments from hospital staff and visitors.
“We love what we do, we love working with the children and watching them grow. Funtazia will survive these trying times, because we have the support of our fantastic staff and parents.”
The team have received countless messages of thanks from parents and the community, showing their gratitude for the amazing work that they have been doing over the past few months.
