About the scheme
This scheme is available to help anyone who’s completed the Introduction to social care programme (ISC) who meets the vacancy eligibility criteria to get an interview, making it easier for them to get a job in social care.

Overcoming employment barriers
The recruitment process often creates barriers to employment, such as lengthy application forms filled with strict eligibility criteria, which can exclude potential talent early on. We aim to help employers attract individuals with the right qualities and values for roles in care, and to recognise the potential and accommodations needed to build a more diverse and representative workforce. We encourage a values-based approach to recruitment.
We ask employers in the scheme to carefully consider what is truly essential for accessing an interview and to prioritise potential. For example, does a candidate really need to have access to a car, or could a pool car be provided as part of the job offer? Could driving lessons be offered as an incentive, rather than limiting opportunities to those who already drive?
How it works for job seekers
At the end of the Introduction to social care programme, completers will have access to our guaranteed interview scheme giving them the opportunity to arrange an interview directly with you.
Participants will be able to filter these opportunities on the jobs portal page here.
How it works for employers
- Register or sign in as an employer on the WeCare Wales website
- Upload your jobs and tick the guaranteed interview box.
- Include the agreed wording in your advert to show you are part of the scheme:
- "We are part of the WeCare Wales guaranteed interview scheme. Please follow any eligibility guidance in the advert and send a copy of your Introduction to social care certificates. We will be in touch when we have received your information."
- Add clear eligibility rules to access the interview e.g. need a UK driving licence.
- Let job seekers know about other opportunities such as volunteering/work placements within your adverts.
- Remember to let us know you've filled your vacancy.
