Carers encouraged to become an ambassador and help inspire others

The WeCare Wales campaign is calling on passionate social care and early years and childcare employees to become ambassadors for the sector, sharing their experiences to motivate and inspire others to consider a career in care.

The role of a WeCare Ambassador is to raise the profile of the social care and early years sector.

They help educate people about the different career options and progression opportunities available through presentations to school or college students, informal talks or discussions and attending career or job fairs, events or conferences.

Ambassadors can be at any career level and the role is voluntary. It can help develop confidence and skills for continuing professional development and be a positive addition to CVs.

As well as supporting an employee, there are many benefits for organisations employing a WeCare Ambassador, such as developing and motivating staff, making a positive contribution to the development of the future workforce and raising the profile of the organisation as a quality employer.

Peter Hornyik, Residential Childcare Worker and one of the current WeCare Ambassadors said: “I’ve been an ambassador for a year now because I’m passionate about the sector. My role involves going into schools in person or virtually and delivering talks to the young people to get them excited about a future career in care.”

If you know a standout social care or early years and childcare employee, you can nominate them to become an ambassador at ambassadors@socialcare.wales or visit WeCare Wales for more information.

If you are a school, college or job centre and you are interested in having a WeCare Ambassador visit your organisation, please contact us at ambassadors@socialcare.wales.
