You will receive a full salary whilst undertaking a 3-year Social Work Degree course at The Open University. While you are studying, you will undertake 2 contrasting work placements as part of the requirement of the course. In return, we ask that you remain with the Authority for 2 years after achieving the award.
Applications must include an additional 1000 word processed personal statement that is assessed prior to interview and used for selection purposes in line with The Open University Social Work Degree programme entry requirements. The personal statement will include your personal and work experience, why you want to train to be a social worker, your understanding of the role of a social worker and the Social Care Wales Codes of Professional Practice for Social Care Workers. If your application is successful, you will be invited to give a 5-minute talk at the beginning of the interview based on your personal statement. Full guidance on how to complete your personal statement will be provided on application. We will also welcome applications from students who are already enrolled on the Social Work degree programme.
