Senior Housing Support Worker – Bridgend Adferiad Recovery

Contract: 30 hours, permanent
Salary: £21,507.75 basic pro rata per annum. Additional enhanced pay for unsocial hours

Adferiad Recovery delivers a recovery model of housing support which includes both shared accommodation and floating support to individuals living independently. We support individuals who experience a serious mental illness and who will need a medium level of support to help with their recovery. The service will be staffed 7 days a week, including unsocial hours.

The aim of the team is to encourage and enable clients to reach a greater level of independence over a reasonable period of time, and then to facilitate their move to more independent living in the community.

Senior Job Role:

The position of Senior involves taking responsibility of delegated tasks such as the completion of processing referrals from point of receipt to the delivery of support through the creation of person-centred/ housing related support delivery plans, allocating tasks to staff members. The role will include acting as Deputy in the
Service Managers absence, completing reviews of support, ensuring all client files are up to date, ensuring compliance with internal and external quality standards inspection. As a deputy, a Senior is expected to be able to take on any essential admin and oversee the management of Housing Support Workers and the projects as directed by the Service Manager.

Further Duties and Responsibilities:

· Delivering support and assisting clients with the following:

Ø Using appliances safely and maintaining reasonable domestic standards

Ø Personal finance, budgeting, and accessing benefits.

Ø Mental and physical healthcare

Ø Self-management of medication

Ø Attending appointments

Ø Visitors and their access to individual’s property

Ø Building and maintaining relationships with neighbours, families, friends, professionals

Ø Developing skills and interests

· Attendance at multiagency meetings to ensure the complex needs of the client(s) are addressed appropriately.

· Support the Service Manager and Registered Manager, in monitoring and evaluating staff performance during supervisions and with ongoing support.

Person Specification:

Whilst qualifications are not essential to apply for this role, an NVQ or QCF Competencies in Health & Social Care Level 3 would provide some evidence of competence for the post and all staff would be required to hold or complete this as part of their employment.

We are looking for someone with sufficient experience of providing care and support services to people either with a serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorder, or within a social care setting. Through your experience, you should be able to demonstrate knowledge of the community care approach and be able to simply describe the difficulties experienced in the community by people with a serious mental illness, issues affecting people from black and ethnic minority communities, and the causes and issues people who are, or at risk of being, homeless face.
