A free series of workshops for social care managers. These workshops will focus on identifying and finding solutions to social care recruitment and retention challenges.

About the workshops

These workshops are aimed at social care recruitment managers or managers responsible for supporting staff retention. 

They will include active participation and activities for shared learning opportunities. 

Session 1 – Friday 6 June, 9:15am-12:30pm
Understanding the role of shared qualities and values in the recruitment and retention process.​

This session will help employers identify and better understand:

  • a values-based approach
  • their organisational values
  • qualities needed to match their values
  • reflect on the importance of being able to match these in practice. ​

Session 2 – Friday 20 June, 9:15am-1pm
Understanding your target audience and their needs in social care recruitment.

This session will help employers identify and better understand:

  • your target audience
  • your own expectations and unconscious bias​
  • inclusion gaps

Session 3 – Friday 4 July, 9:15am-12:30pm
Identifying and removing barriers to employment in social care.

This session will help employers recognise and better understand:

  • the different needs of their workforce
  • barriers at each stage of the recruitment and retention process

Session 4 – Friday 18 July, 9:15am-1pm
A values-based approach to recruitment.

This session is the final in the series and using the learning from previous sessions will help employers plan for future recruitment that:

  • uses a range of methods to reach and include a diverse audience
  • uses a range of values-based assessment methods in the recruitment process
  • makes the most of free available resources from WeCare Wales toolkit and Social Care Wales employer’s support.

Each session follows on from the previous, so it is advisable to attend them in order, to make the most of the workshops.
