Social Care Wales are searching for workers providing excellent care and support in Welsh
Nominations are now open for the 2024 Caring in Welsh award.
The Caring in Welsh award recognises and celebrates workers who make a positive difference to people’s lives by providing care and support through the medium of Welsh.
The award, which is sponsored by WeCare Wales, is open to any paid workers who work in social care or childcare, play and early years in Wales who provide excellent care through the medium of Welsh.
We’re now inviting members of the public, employers and those working in care to nominate a worker.
The worker doesn’t need to be a fluent Welsh speaker, as long as they use the language when they provide care and support – a little bit of Welsh goes a long way!
The finalists and their nominators will be invited to a ceremony to announce the winner at the National Eisteddfod in Pontypridd on 6 August.
Last year’s winner, Ross Dingle, was celebrated for his work running a Welsh-medium out-of-school childcare club for children in Cardiff.
Find out more about Ross’s work providing high quality care while promoting the Welsh language in his community. You might just be inspired to submit your own nomination…
If you’d like to nominate a worker, all you have to do is fill out a nomination form, letting us know why the worker deserves to be recognised and the difference they make to the lives of the people they support through their use of Welsh.
You’ll need to make sure the worker is happy to be nominated before sending us your entry.
Because if they’re chosen as one of our finalists, we’ll use their story to publicise the award and promote the importance of providing care and support through the medium of Welsh.
The closing date for nominations is 24 June 2024.
