Encouraging Welsh speakers to consider a career in care

The National Eisteddfod is the highlight of the cultural calendar in Wales. On Thursday 10 August, we are delighted to sponsor this unique festival by creating a Care Day. With this partnership we hope to attract Welsh speakers of all levels to consider a career in care.

Come and meet us at this lively festival. We will be in the Gofalwn Cymru and North Wales Co-operative tent all week.

The Care Day, on Thursday 10 August, will include a full programme…

  • you will find us walking around the field promoting our training courses
  • at noon we will announce the winner of the Caring in Welsh award 2023. This award recognises and celebrates employees who make a positive difference to people's lives by providing care and support through the medium of Welsh
  • at 3pm in the Welsh Government tent, there will be a question and answer session with an expert panel on why the Welsh language is so important in social care and child care
  • we are keen to hear about your experiences of care in Wales, so come and find us to have a chat and share your opinion.

For many Welsh speakers being able to use their own language is likely to be essential to their care. Read about how Glan Rhos care home in Anglesey firmly believes that the use of the Welsh language when caring is essential to the service available to its residents here.

The Welsh language can be more than words for someone who receives care. Read about some of the benefits of using Welsh at work and find training tips to help you here.
