We pay an attractive salary of £26,421 - £28,770 and offer access to training and development opportunities.Do you want to make a difference to the lives of vulnerable people?
Can you keep a cool head in an emergency?
Are you a good communicator?
Then you could be the person we are looking for to join our Telecare Services team based in Caerphilly.
The role is demanding and challenging but is also very rewarding. The work we do makes a real difference to individuals and their families, enabling Service Users to live independently, safe in the knowledge that support is there when they need it.
We are looking for a Telecare Services Assistant. The post holder will work alongside the Telecare Operator and Installation Teams. When the service is busy or office cover is required, the post holder will answer emergency calls, this is a major part of the role. When not taking calls, the post holder will carry out administration work to support the installation service and Telecare Manager.
As well as excellent administrative and customer service skills, we are looking for someone who is confident at dealing with vulnerable clients, sometimes in difficult circumstances. Also, someone who has a proactive approach to supporting the needs of our clients.
Telecare Services provides its service users with an alarm system with either passive (for example smoke alarms) or active (for example a pendant button) alarms which place a call to the Response Centre when activated. Calls can range from service users seeking advice or reassurance, to calls which require us to arrange assistance from the emergency services. We provide this service directly to our own Service Users as well as providing a range of call handling services to other organisations ensuring a varied and challenging role.
The Monitoring Centre is open 24 hours a day every day of the year.
The TSA post usually covers "core office hours" for the service (Monday - Friday 9.00-5.00) with some degree of flexibility around start and finish times as agreed with the Telecare Manager and to meet the needs of the service.
As this is a front-line service, we are particularly keen to hear from people with Welsh language skills. But don't worry if you cannot speak Welsh, we can support you with Welsh language training if you are a little rusty or if you are a complete beginner but keen to learn.
This post is fixed term until March 31st, 2025. There may be the opportunity to move into a relief Telecare Operator post at the end of the contract.
A basic administration test and a telephone test will be conducted as part of the interview process.
