Work base: Coed Pella / Hybrid
Looking for an exciting change? An opportunity has arisen for a Qualified Social Worker to join the Permanency and Pathways Team in Conwy Children, Family and Safeguarding Service working alongside unaccompanied asylum seeker children and young people.
The team is responsible for delivering services to children that are Looked After and Leaving Care. There are a range of support services including In-house Psychologist and Therapeutic and Family Intervention Service to support any social worker to provide short to medium term interventions according to the assessed need. The team also has strong links with CAMHS.
The Permanency and Pathways Team requires dedicated social workers who are willing and able to make a difference. Successful applicants will work with children and the support providers using an outcome-based approach which will be co-produced with the child's voice at the centre of any planning.
The successful candidate will play a key role in making a real difference to the lives of Children Looked after and Care Leavers. The young people we currently work with age between birth until their 18th birthday. We work jointly with foster carer, placement with parents, residential children's home and semi-independent living. We currently working across the country with Unaccompanied Asylum seeker children. Most of the young people are aged between 14years up to 18years old.
The team is located in Coed Pella, Colwyn Bay however given the location of many of the young people who are placed around the country we would require a use of hybrid working whereby travel and overnight stays may be a factor within the role of supporting each individual young person.
It is essential that the post holder has the ability to travel throughout the County and further afield, often to and from remote locations at short notice.
Social Worker will need to be able to support children and young people through translation services whereby English / Welsh is not their preferred language. The social worker will be required to undertake training around Merton Age Assessment to support the current need of young people when being placed in the care of the local authority whereby their age is being disputing. The social worker needs to be able to develop good working relationships with care providers and additional agency staff such as home office in line with supporting the young people seeking leave to remain whereby possible.
Due to the nature of the work, it will be necessary to obtain a satisfactory disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
This role offers flexible working options for a work life balance. This can include adjusting your working day and hybrid working, ie a balance of office and home working.
