The service will focus on the threshold of need and will prioritise those children who are most at risk. Intensive support will be provided to families with a child or children already subject to a Child Protection Plan, Looked after Child Plan or a Care and Support Plan. The IFSS will work with the family and individual family members to deliver and sustain family change which is based upon motivating the family to set family goals and achieve improved and strengthened positive parenting patterns.
The Integrated Family Support Service oversees the effective delivery of our multi-agency Integrated Family Support Team and Edge of Care Practitioners who work in partnership with children, families, carers and professional support networks to identify what matters to them, devise safety and wellbeing plans to increase safety and manage risk to enable service users to achieve positive outcomes for their families. The focus of the team is to build on the assets of individuals and their families within their own communities to reduce their need for statutory social work intervention and therefore, to enable families to live independent of service intervention.
The post holder will hold a caseload of families being supported by the team alongside providing supervision to a number of team members to ensure the effectiveness of their work and to support their development and growth within the team. The team have a responsibility to deliver training and workshops relating to practice which the post holder may support with.
Applicants will need to be social work qualified, with three years post qualification experience and registered as a social worker with Social Care Wales. You will need a working knowledge of the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014 and the Wales Safeguarding Procedures 2019 and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. A good understanding and working knowledge of motivational interviewing, signs of safety and solution-focused practice is also required to enable you to fulfil the role.
The team is based in County Hall Haverfordwest but will provide a county wide service. Although the service will have a base the IFST has adopted agile working to work alongside the child care teams. The eligibility criteria for access to IFST service includes:
* Parental Substance Misuse
* Family in crisis /Child at risk /at risk of becoming Looked After Child
* Families must have a social worker
* Family consent to referral
