Senior Occupational Therapist

About the role

A rare opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and skilled Occupational Therapist to support people in the Vale of Glamorgan. The successful candidate will work with a team of Social Workers and Wellbeing Officers to help with completing urgent Occupational Therapy assessments to help support care packages and advise on level of care needed with the provision of suitable equipment. Many of the referrals will involve working with care agencies to try to support the management of any care package with the advice and provision of equipment for safe manual handling and with a view to avoiding hospital admission. The post holder will also support Social Care staff who carry out a Trusted Assessor role in the team and prescribe minor equipment and adaptations

Pay Details: Grade 9 - £39,186-£43,421

Hours of Work -27 hours

Working Pattern: To be agreed

Main Place of Work: Canolfan Ty Jenner

The successful candidate will have a caseload of adults with complex needs requiring assessment for equipment and major adaptations. The role also includes supervision of staff in the team.

About you
You will need-

• Current registration with the health professions council


• A degree or diploma in occupational therapy


• A minimum of three years postgraduate experience, at least two of which have been in social services.

• Be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of the effects of illness and disability


• And ability to work as a team player with well-developed skills in a social services setting


• A working knowledge of and ability to apply legislation and local criteria


• Evidence of continuing professional development ( CPD)


• Consolidated and up to date skills in relation to manual handling assessment intervention and evaluation


• Will be able to evidence assessment intervention and evaluation skills in occupational therapy


• Have the ability to work with families in distress in a reliable tactful and sensitive way


• Have a willingness to learn by reflecting on working practice
