Work base: Bwthyn y Ddôl
About Us: At Bwthyn y Ddôl, we believe in the profound privilege of sharing the life space of children. Our Residential Childcare Workers do more than just see children once a week; they provide unwavering support and care 24/7, helping children navigate their daily lives and understand the world around them.
Job Overview: We are seeking dedicated Residential Childcare Workers to join our team, offering comprehensive residential services to children and young people. Your role will be to ensure their physical, social, and emotional needs are met, and nurturing their holistic development whilst promoting resilience. This position is part of a career pathway into children's residential care.
What You Will Do: - Actively safeguard and promote the welfare of children. - Establish structure, boundaries, and routines, supporting young people with their education and daily activities. - Create a warm, kind, and friendly environment for vulnerable children. - Undertake sleep-in duties and work unsociable hours, including occasional waking nights.
What We Are Looking For: - A friendly, trustworthy, and supportive nature with a positive outlook on life. - Ability to build positive and constructive relationships with the children you support. - Experience in supporting families and children, as we take a holistic approach to our practice. - An NVQ/QCF Level 3 qualification in caring for Children and Young People, or a willingness to work towards it. - A good standard of education, with GCSEs at Grade C level or a QCF Level 2 in Health and Social Care/Social Practice (or equivalent).
Why Join Us: - Opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children and their families. - A supportive and safe environment where children's voices are heard and centred on their individual needs. - Commitment to supporting children and families to reunify and remain together. - Regular supervision, appropriate training, and annual performance development reviews.
Requirements: - Ability or willingness to learn how to repair and discuss relationships with children, holding firm yet nurturing expectations. - Understanding of residential childcare practices and the signs/symptoms of abuse and trauma. - Ability or willingness to learn how to handle difficult encounters and critical situations with innovative strategies. - Willingness to engage with the therapeutic model of care to meet the needs of children and young people.
Additional Information: - All successful candidates must obtain a satisfactory disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
How to Apply: If you are passionate about encouraging and supporting children to be the best they can be, and you share our values of being bold, warm, and honest, we encourage you to apply. Even if you don't meet all the criteria, but believe you can make a positive impact, we want to hear from you.
Join us at Bwthyn y Ddôl and be part of a team that truly makes a difference.
