About the jobAs a Support Worker on a 14.8 hours (2 day) temporary contract, you will be joining a trauma-informed service that places the emotional wellbeing of young people and their families at the heart of everything we do. You will be part of a highly experienced team, delivering flexible and responsive care and support that includes respite, outreach, and family support. You will work with young people in their homes and at our centres, building strong, trusting relationships and engaging with them and their families in meaningful ways to foster resilience, improve connections, and support lasting positive change.
Our trauma-informed approach means that we understand and recognise the impact of trauma on young people's development and behaviour. We work sensitively and collaboratively with families to help them address the underlying causes of distress; prioritising safety, trust, and empowerment in every interaction, from the first point of contact through to the end of their involvement with our service.
One of the unique aspects of this role is the opportunity to work alongside our team Clinical Psychologist. Our Clinical Psychologist provides regular training, consultation, and clinical guidance to the team. This ensures that our assessments and interventions are grounded in psychological theory and practice, enhancing our ability to support young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs.
This role offers invaluable experience in applying trauma-informed therapeutic approaches. You will gain hands-on experience in using psychological frameworks to help families develop healthier coping mechanisms, understand and process trauma, and prevent further crisis and family breakdown.
What We Are Looking For From YouThis role is ideal for candidates seeking experience in a therapeutic and trauma-informed setting. By joining our team, you will be part of a service that makes a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable young people and their families.
As a support worker in our team:
- You will have experience of working with adolescents who may present with complex emotional and behavioural needs, ideally within a trauma-informed context.
- You will have some experience of working with parents and/or carers and as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team.
- You will have a flexible approach to working hours, including some evenings and weekends.
- You should also have an interest in trauma informed-care and practice, with a desire to learn from and collaborate with others in the team.
