About the jobThis is a pivotal development opportunity to shape and develop a response to the needs of adolescents in Cardiff. We want to be a strengths based, responsive service that works in partnership with children, young people and their families, and one that delivers a key message that we are investing in and safeguarding young people into adulthood. The role will manage a small team, focusing on developing a robust and trauma informed approach to support the achievement of our vision to prevent child exploitation.
It will involve joint work with Local Authority services such as Children's Services Locality teams, the Youth Justice Service, Youth Service, and Education, as well as wider interactions with Police and 3 rd sector colleagues. This is about strengthening multi agency working and pathways.
This position will involve you playing a key role to:
- Support a city-wide understanding of Contextual Safeguarding and increase participation and delivery in this area of work with a broad range of partners across Cardiff.
- Coordinate specialist interventions within the context of the SAFE partnership, enabling young people to be diverted from exploitation, youth violence and serious organised crime at the earliest opportunity, ensuring a clear referral pathway to specialist interventions.
- Develop and manage the operational activity of the new contextual safeguarding framework (SAFE) to address exploitation and missing process
- Manage and develop the SAFE framework in an efficient and effective manner to achieve the outcomes, key tasks and performance targets
- Oversee Exploitation and Missing that includes a social work function, to have management oversight of the specialist exploitation team (Think Safe)
What We Are Looking For From YouThe successful candidate will be a qualified social worker with experience of supervising the practice of others in a children's social work setting.
Proven experience of working with and understanding the risks presented to adolescents by exploitation and being aware of the varied and complex current issues that face young people.
