SALARY: Grade: 8 (ABuHB Band: 6)

Torfaen Social Care and Housing Service is seeking to recruit a full time Senior Occupational Therapist, at TY GLAS Y DORLAN.
We operate a service level agreement with ABuHB that would enable you to keep your employment status with the health board

The post will include shift and weekend working
There is an expectation from the Welsh Government that public services will work in a more collaborative way, identifying and exploiting opportunities to work together with communities and stakeholders to improve outcomes for the people of Wales. (SSWB Wales Act and Wellbeing of future Generations Act).
Ty Glas Y Dorlan is a wellbeing hub that will be at the centre of our transformation of our respite and Reablement/Enablement offer. It moves us away from a bed based care model to a unique community hub that will provide a mix of short stay accommodation with support where people will have their own front door for the duration of their stay and access to a person centred recovery and reablement plan of intervention which can flex up and down in an environment that mirrors their own home. It can provide step up from the community to avoid hospital admission and step down from hospital to provide a safe space to recover, build confidence and maintain and maximise independence before returning to your own home. It will offer respite care to give carers a break in an environment that is more like a holiday than has previously been the case. Care and support will be onsite 24/7 and meaningful activities to support social inclusion and prevent isolation and loneliness will be available. It is age inclusive and will be for all adults. This project is both innovative and ambitious and has the potential to make a real difference to people in Torfaen.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive, creative and forward-thinking person, with a genuine commitment to working towards achieving the best outcomes for individuals. The successful post holder needs to be flexibly, motivated and committed to put the guest’s strengths, voice, choice and control at the centre of any interventions. To be able to work effectively as part of a team and also confident working on own initiative, they will have a great deal of autonomy assessing individual’s occupational needs before they enter Ty Glas Y Dorlan , as well as planning, implementing and evaluating their therapeutic programmes during and after their stay. To provide a high quality skilled Intervention for adults that promotes independence, positive risk taking and social inclusion within the Wellbeing Hub at Ty Glas Y Dorlan The successful candidate will need to be to develop and lead a team of enablement support workers to ensure the full commitment of staff in meeting the regulatory requirements of Care Standards Wales.
The successful candidate will have or be expected to work towards a sound and demonstratable working knowledge of relevant legislation e.g Local Government and Housing Act, MH legislation, Social Services and Wellbeing Act Wales, Mental Capacity Act. They will have the necessary Leadership skills to lead by example to bring about cohesiveness, team spirit and consistency towards co production of exemplary outcomes.
Ty Glas y Dorlan operates 24hrs a day 365 days a year. The post will be subject to shift patterns across 7 days per week and will include, day, afternoon and night shifts and on call arrangements
