Visitor Support Volunteer
This is an exciting new role that has been designed to help care homes welcome visitors in line with Covid-19 rules.
After a year in which visiting care homes has been significantly restricted because of Covid-19 regulations, we know that friends and / or family are keen to be able to return to visiting their loved ones.
This volunteering opportunity will play a key role in supporting care homes with visiting as they seek to welcome visitors.
You could be:
Supporting the care home with arrangements to facilitate visits
Welcoming visitors on the day, ensuring use of distancing, masks and sanitiser as appropriate
Escorting visitors to and from visiting areas
Other activities that support smooth and safe visiting.
The role would suit someone who has the following qualities and skills:
Good, positive communication skills
Ability to work unsupervised, using own initiative as required
Understanding of confidentiality
Understanding of and empathy with the needs of older people
Reliability, patience and sensitivity
Outgoing and confident

Time commitment: Each session would last for approximately three hours. We’re keen to attract volunteers who can dedicate to one or more sessions per week depending on availability. We welcome applications for weekend volunteering to meet the demands of care home visiting hours.
The role is subject to regular lateral flow testing as required.
