This is a replacement post and you will join colleagues in a very dynamic and forward looking Learning Disabilities team.
Office accommodation, secretarial support and full IT facilities including access to intranet and internet will be provided.
Hywel Dda Health Board is one of seven acute Health Boards in Wales.
This post comes during a period of Health Board-wide service reviews, including a comprehensive reconfiguration of Mental Health and Learning Disability Services in West Wales. The focus on enhancing and developing learning disability services follows on from a very successful Adult Mental Health Transformation Programme.
The Learning Disability Improvement Programme is an exciting collaboration between the Health Board, Local Authorities, third sector and the ‘Dream Team’. The Dream Team is an award-winning group of service users supported by advocacy who are fully engaged in the change process and empowered to represent the views of service users. Developments include :-
The development and adoption of the Learning Disability Charter
Ongoing review of inpatient services
Enhanced access to mainstream mental health services
Establishing Health Facilitation Nurses in GP practices and General Hospitals across West Wales
Development of an Intensive Support Team as an alternative to hospital admission
ICF project development
The potential for Health Board-wide developments and a closer liaison with primary care and social services is substantial and exciting. A major expansion in undergraduate medical student teaching is planned.
Applicants who wish to develop areas of special interest will be supported to do so. There is scope within the health board to accommodate a wide range of interests including research, neurodevelopmental work, forensics, S-CAMHS and epilepsy.
Any applicant who is unable, for personal reasons, to work full-time will be considered for the post. If such a person is appointed, modification of the job Content will be discussed on a personal basis in consultation with Consultant colleagues.
