Nanny
As a Nanny you’ll provide care for one or more children in a family home as a service.
Being a Nanny
You’ll work in partnership with the family, responsible for the safety and development of the children. You’ll provide care for one or more children, teach them good manners, maintain a clean and safe environment and organise creative activities such as crafting or drawing.
If required, you’ll have duties such as:
- preparing meals
- helping them with their homework
- transporting children to and from school
- schedule naps
- complete household chores.
About the workplace
You may live-in or live-out of the home, this will depend upon the needs of the family. You’ll be employed through a personal contract with parents.
Getting started as a Nanny
You will be responsible for registration with Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW), complete a DBS check and take out insurance. Some local authorities offer start-up grants to help set up your childminding business and further guidance is available at PACEY.
