Training for people interested in working in early years and childcare

Are you considering working with children, but feel you need to gain skills and understanding of the roles available?

There are many different opportunities and places where you can work in both early years and childcare. Take a look at some training opportunities below.

PACEY Cymru

PACEY Cymru is the Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years charity who offer training and support for those looking to work, or currently working as a childminder assistant in Wales. They also support nannies.

PACEY Cymru deliver the following accredited home-based childcare units:

Nanny: Unit 326 Introduction to home-based childcare (IHC).

Childminder assistant: Unit 326 Introduction to home-based childcare (IHC).

Childminder: Unit 326 Introduction to home-based childcare (IHC), and Unit 327 Preparing for childminder practice (PCP).

Before this course, if you are looking to register as a childminder or become approved as a nanny in Wales, you need to attend a briefing session.

Play Wales

Play Wales is an independent charity who meet the play needs of all children in Wales . They provide advice and guidance to support all those who have an interest in, or responsibility for providing for children’s play so that one day Wales will be a place where we recognise and provide well for every child’s play needs.

The Level 2 Award in Playwork Practice (L2APP) is a introduction to those new to playwork or those working in short term, holiday play schemes (delivered over three days).
