Nominations are now open for the 2023 Caring in Welsh award
Search begins for workers providing excellent care and support in Welsh
We are sponsoring this year's Caring in Welsh award. The award recognises and celebrates workers who make a positive difference to people’s lives by providing care and support through the medium of Welsh. It is open to any paid workers who work in social care or early years, childcare and play in Wales who provide excellent care through the medium of Welsh.
Social Care Wales are now inviting members of the public, employers and those working in care to nominate a worker.
The worker can be a fluent Welsh speaker, know some Welsh or be a learner, as long as they use the language when they provide care and support.
The finalists and their nominators will be invited to a lunchtime celebratory event at the National Eisteddfod on the Llŷn Peninsula on 10 August.
Sue Evans, Chief Executive of Social Care Wales, said: “For people who choose to speak Welsh, getting care and support from someone who can speak their language is an important part of receiving dignified, high-quality care.
“We’re hoping this award will not only showcase those workers who are providing excellent care through the medium of Welsh. But that it will also raise awareness of the need for more people who can speak the language to work in care.”
If you’d like to nominate a worker, all you have to do is fill out a nomination form, letting us know why the worker deserves to be recognised and the difference they make to the lives of the people they support through their use of Welsh.
You’ll need to make sure the worker is happy to be nominated before sending us your entry because if they’re chosen as one of our finalists, we’ll use their story to publicise the award and promote the importance of providing care and support through the medium of Welsh.
The closing date for nominations is 10am on 26 June 2023.
