Care in Gwynedd
Cyngor Gwynedd has published a video as part of a campaign to attract more people to consider a career within the Social Care sector.
The aim of the video is to promote the work opportunities in the care field and draw attention to the diversity that this special sector has to offer, here in our area.
The video was launched at a special event in Plas Tan y Bwlch, Maentwrog recently. The evening was an opportunity to thank all the individuals who took part in the short film for their invaluable contributions – to the video and also in their day-to-day work caring for the most vulnerable adults and children in our community.
The video is part of a wider campaign to attract interest and recruit more people into the field, which includes drop-in sessions in communities across the county, collaboration with agencies that help people return to work and advertising campaigns on social media and traditional media.
As in all sectors and organisations, we face challenges in recruiting and retaining care workers, across the fields of social care for adults and children with learning disability.
Our current care staff are committed and professional, and we are extremely grateful to them for their work. Not only have they come through difficult situations during the pandemic period but also today face an increase in demand for services due to a combination of the long-term side effects of Covid-19 and the cost of living crisis.
We are proud that our carers provide a service to our vulnerable residents and their families through the medium of Welsh.
