Come and join our team We are looking to recruit two motivated and compassionate individuals to the Visual Impairment Team. You do not need to have prior experience of working with people with visual impairments, but you must possess empathy, patience and a genuine interest in supporting people.
You will be part of a friendly and supportive team who are dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with visual impairments who access our service. As a trainee, you will shadow and work under the supervision of qualified Vision Rehabilitation Specialists prior to working independently and managing your own caseload.
The role will involve assessing the needs of individuals and providing relevant advice, aids and training to help them to achieve their goals and empower them to lead independent and fulfilling lives. The role will require you to work with adults of all ages with varied eye conditions and circumstances.
The role also requires you to successfully apply for and complete the Rehabilitation Work foundation degree at Birmingham City University, which is funded by the authority. This will involve being away for seven weeks per academic year for two years. Upon completion, you will be promoted to Vision Rehabilitation Specialist.
The role is based in Ammanford and it involves working county-wide in the community. There is flexibility to work from other offices in Carmarthen and Llanelli and from home when suitable.
