Location: Pontypridd Police stationAs a result of a recent notice of Team Manager Retirement, Rhondda Cynon Taf is pleased to offer a Team Manager post in the Emergency Duty Team (EDT), covering the Local Authority areas of Bridgend, Rhondda Cynon Taf and Merthyr Tydfil. The team is hosted by Rhondda Cynon Taf CBC where line management is located within the Children’s Services Dept.
The service is currently undertaking a review of its current structure and developing an out of hours rota system that can better meet current and future demand. Therefore, the post will provide an exciting opportunity to work alongside current team members and line management to oversee the implementation of new practice and operational processes.
Currently the post is based within in the Cwm Taf Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub at Pontypridd Police Station during weekend and bank holidays, although, in practice, staff within the team mainly work from home during weekdays. However, the service is currently exploring relocation options and a return to more regular office working will remain subject to review.
This challenging and rewarding role will require a proactive and innovative professional who is able to work effectively with colleagues to drive change and improve service delivery when necessary.
You will need to hold a professional Social Work qualification, have significant post qualifying experience and continued registration as a Social Worker with Social Care Wales.
The primary duties of the role are;
- To provide the leadership, management and co-ordination of the Emergency Duty Team made up of full time, part time and casual social workers and approved mental health practitioners.
- To manage a generic out of hours emergency service that includes Child Protection, Mental Health, Community Care and Youth Justice, on behalf of the Local Authorities mentioned above.
- Provide consultation, advice and guidance to team members on all aspects of their work by means of individual supervision and team meetings.
- Assist in the implementation of a new EDT Performance Framework and monitor the overall work of the team alongside the Head of Service by collating and analysing data to inform service development.
- To work collaboratively with a range of organisations in delivering safeguarding services to both adults and children.
- Provide written reports for the EDT Partnership Steering Group and contribute to the reviews of protocols/processes and service level agreements.
- Attend multi agency partnership meetings across Cwm Taf Morgannwg as appropriate and maintain regular and effective liaison with partner agencies and daytime services across the three local authority areas.
- Assist in the recruitment, induction and training of all staff.
- To oversee the staff rota on a monthly basis to ensure that the service is appropriately covered at all times.
