Job description
Work base: Coed Pella, Colwyn Bay
Due to internal promotions, we are looking to expand our social work team. Our new application process makes it even easier for Social Workers to join us.
We are committed to driving up the standards of supporting children and their families and want every child in Conwy to be safe and to achieve their full potential. As we highly value the work of our Social Workers our aim is to continue to increase the resources available to them and decrease the numbers of cases that they hold to enhance the offer to our children and their families.
The Safeguarding and Legal team is responsible for delivering services to children in need of protection, children who are subject to Public & Private Law Proceedings and Adoption, long term planning.
A key aim is to be a supportive team working towards ensuring positive outcomes for children and families. To achieve this we have an extremely dedicated section of social workers, supported by Family Intervention and Strengthening Family Practitioners, we have dedicated duty workers and access to a pioneering early intervention and prevention assessment residential centre, Bwthyn y Ddôl. Within Bwthyn y Ddôl and integrated in the Looked after Children Service, Social Workers have access to Consultant Psychologists to again support where it is required.
Within the team you will feel supported by your committed and highly motivated colleagues. There is also a dedicated team of experienced, supportive and readily available managers. The management support will be available through regular formal supervision and informal daily check-ins. We also work alongside a consistent team of Legal Advisors who are there to support you within all PLO, Proceedings and Adoption cases and are based within Coed Pella Offices.
There is a clear pathway for progression within Conwy and development for either newly qualified or more experienced workers. Newly qualified social workers starting salary is £34,834, and on completion of the Consolidation Programme (CPEL) you can earn £38,223 up to £41,418. We have our own workforce team to support our commitment to developing you as practitioners. You will have access to CC Inform children/adults subscription website and our workforce team support practitioners to utilise this resource. We have a dedicated Practice Learning Co-ordinator to support social workers with the transition of learning into practice.
You will have the opportunity of working flexibly from both home and the state of the art 'Coed Pella' office in Colwyn Bay, which allows you to be in contact with partner departments including Youth Justice, Education, Housing and many others. We promote and understand the importance of a positive and healthy work life balance and can offer a range of flexible working solutions, such as 9 day fortnight. This can be discussed further at interview.
You will benefit from a substantial rewards package, which includes a Local Government Pension Scheme, minimum of 26 days annual leave (depending on previous Local Authority service), Occupational Sick Pay and staff benefits including salary sacrifice cars, Cycle to Work, cashback healthcare, discounts plus much more.
Applicants are advised to apply early as we reserve the right to close a vacancy prior to the closing date if a high number of applications have been received.
