We support children from pre-birth up to 15 years, responding to all new referrals coming into the department and undertaking Care and Support and Child Protection assessments. Our key role is to ensure that children remain with their families where possible and to ensure that children's needs are being met appropriately and their voices heard. A strengths-based approach is promoted within the team and cases are transferred to long term teams at the point of Initial Care and Support Meeting, Initial Child Protection Conference or Initial Court Hearing. The team benefit from Family Intervention Workers who provide intensive support to families at the point of crisis to offer assistance alongside assessments being completed.
