About the role: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Connected Carer's Supervising Social Worker in Powys council, based in the south of the county. We are a well-established supportive, stable staff team, who work with Family and Friends Carers, committed to achieving best possible outcomes for our children and young people. We are looking for an active participant, who wants to contribute to positive change within the organisation whilst having the opportunity to develop a career within the service. There is great emphasis on learning and development with a range of training opportunities available. The Connected Carer's Team do both assessment and support of friends and family that foster. Supervising social workers have manageable caseloads, receive a robust induction, have regular reflective supervision as well as additional support and mentoring when required. About you: • Post qualifying experience in a fostering related social worker role or post qualifying experience in other childcare setting such as a looked after children's team. • You should have a knowledge and understanding of the needs and experiences of children who are unable to live with their parents as well as skills and knowledge in complex family dynamics and support. • The ability to support our foster carers and their families to achieve the best outcomes for the children in their care. • Up to date knowledge of relevant legislation including the Social Services and Well being Act and Fostering Regulations What you will do: • Supervise foster carers, ensuring that they are well supported with appropriate advice and guidance to enable them to continue to provide a safe, healthy, nurturing and learning environment for children/young people who they are looking after. • Be part of our recruitment process, by undertaking occasional initial home visits to potential foster carers. • Opportunities to participate in foster carer training, such as Skills to Foster Pre-approval training • Occasionally undertake fostering assessments and Friends and Family Assessments. We want to ensure the best outcomes for children and young people are achieved via the completion of high-quality assessments. • Support the recruitment officers by occasionally taking part in actively recruiting foster carers.
