This is an exciting opportunity to join Team Caerphilly and provide support across the wider Blaenau Gwent and Caerphilly Youth Offending Service (YOS).
Interviews will be held on the afternoon of Tuesday 21 May 2024, please be advised an alternative date for interview cannot be offered.We pay an attractive salary of £36,648 - £39,186 and offer access to training and development opportunities.We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to support the overall aim of the YOS in reducing offending by children, this will be achieved through partnership working with the local statutory and voluntary sector services.
The successful candidate will be flexible, innovative, and able to deliver a high-quality service. Based within one of the Court & Community Teams, you will work on Statutory Court Orders and Out of Court Disposal cases, to manage and provide services to children aged between 10-17 years of age who are involved in offending or antisocial behaviour, working to prevent further offending or antisocial behaviour incidents.
In achieving these aims, you will work closely with families and/or carers to address the factors leading to offending. You will also be required to contribute to accurate and timely electronic records in accordance with the Youth Justice Board's National Standards.

For the role, we ask that you have:
- A Diploma or Degree in Social Work or predecessor qualification and registration as a Social Worker with Social Care Wales or equivalent regulators
- A proven ability to engage children and make a positive impact
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly with children, young people and their families / carers

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and a comprehensive screening process will be undertaken on all successful applicants. This will include an enhanced check with the Disclosure and Barring Service.
The current Social Care Wales registration requirements state that completion of the Consolidation of Practice qualification within your first 3 years of practice is mandatory (if you qualified after 1st April 2016). Failure to successfully complete this qualification will result in you being unable to renew your Social Work Registration or practice as a Social Worker.
