About the role: The Integrated Disability Team works with children, young people and their families when it has been identified that a child has a significant/profound Disability/Health Need and they are in need of additional support and services. IDS is a generic social work team which means that you will work with families from the point of initial assessment through to Transition Adult Social Care and so includes Care and Support, Child Protection, Child Looked After and Court/Adoption work.
The team is established with a supportive Team Manager and social workers, wellbeing workers and early help family support workers who all have a wealth of knowledge and experience of working with children with disabilities. The Senior Social Worker will work alongside the Social Workers, Newly Qualified Social Workers, Wellbeing Workers and team coordinators as well as working closely with colleagues within health and education to ensure that children are supported to remain at home and have support to grow and develop.

About you: - We are looking for someone who works well in a team, who is able to think on their feet, research and utilise all community resources and be willing to support their team where needed whilst also utilising the experience within the team to ensure good outcomes for children with disabilities and their families.
- You will need to have person centred skills and an have understanding of the impact of trauma and grief on families; our work often requires compassion, good listening skills and empathic approaches to working.
- You will have a passion for ensuring that the voice of the child is captured within your work and be able to utilise the support of those that know a child's communication style best to ensure that this is captured.
- You will have experience of a range of social work tasks, including child protection and Court work and be able to support team members with less experience on complex cases.
- You will have experience of working with multi disciplinary teams and advocating for children and families within these.
What you will do: - Assess and manage risk in more complex cases and support others to develop risk management skills.
- Attend and contribute to meetings as part of the care planning process, including Children Protection conferences, Child Looked After reviews and legal meetings.
- Complete person centred assessments which will inform plans for children, utilising the multi agency team around the child, this could include preparing statements and attending Court.
- Undertake all social work tasks related to working with children and young people with disabilities / complex health issues.
- Show a commitment to providing a high standard of social work practice by meeting our statutory duties and following policy and procedures.
