This is an exciting opportunity to join Team Caerphilly and provide support across the wider South East Wales Emergency Duty Team.
We pay an attractive salary of £40,221 - £43,421 and offer access to training and development opportunities.The posts includes a prorata 20% temporary disturbance for working out of hours plus a Market Supplement for Approved Mental Health Professionals: (£2863 pro rata) The South East Wales Emergency Duty Team provides an emergency social work service out-of-hours to the five local authorities of Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly, Monmouthshire, Newport, and Torfaen.
We are an enthusiastic and dedicated team who strive to support adults, children and families who are facing crisis out of hours. The team responds to emergency situations involving children, young people, vulnerable adults, that cannot wait until the next working day, working closely with other partner agencies, such as the police and health.
Caerphilly, as the lead authority, provides the service for the partner authorities from a centrally located office base. We operate a 4-week rota which includes working weekends, bank holidays and overnights with a duty manager available at all times either office based or on call overnight.
We are seeking an experienced Social Worker who is also an Approved Mental Health Practitioner to join our well-established team. It is desirable but not essential, that candidates also have experience in safeguarding children and adults at risk with a focus on working with adults, children, carers and families in crisis. We provide relevant training opportunities that will support the successful candidate with their on-going professional development.
For the role, we ask that you have: - The minimum qualifications of Diploma/Degree in Social Work and are an approved Mental Health Practitioner.
- A full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and the use of a motor vehicle insured for business / work purposes to travel throughout the borough to attend meetings.
- Knowledge of Child Protection, Child Development and Children Looked After

You must possess a Diploma/Degree in Social Work or predecessor and be registered as a Social Worker with Social Care Wales (or able to transfer from another recognised body).
The current registration requirements state that completion of the Consolidation of Practice qualification within your first 3 years of practice is mandatory (if you qualified after 1st April 2016). Failure to successfully complete this qualification will result in you being unable to renew your Social Work Registration or practice as a Social Worker.
