Job description
Work base: Bwthyn Y Ddol
About Us: At Bwthyn Y Ddol, we believe in the profound privilege of sharing the life space of children. Our Residential Workers provide unwavering support and care 24/7, helping children navigate their daily lives and understand the world around them.
Job Overview: We are looking for experienced and compassionate Residential Childcare Workers to join our team. You will be supporting young people with complex needs, ensuring consistency of care and building strong, trusting relationships. Your work will focus on creating structured, nurturing, and therapeutic environments that enable children to feel safe, valued, and empowered. This is more than just a job - it's an opportunity to have a meaningful, lasting impact on a child's life.
What You Will Do: • Actively safeguard and promote the welfare of children at all times. • Establish clear structure, boundaries, and routines to support children with their education and daily living. • Create a warm, consistent, and nurturing environment for vulnerable children. • Lead and mentor colleagues in line with values of openness, honesty, and collaboration. • Undertake sleep-in duties and work unsociable hours, including some waking nights. • Build trusted relationships with young people, helping them manage difficult emotions and behaviours. • Work flexibly across both residential homes to meet the needs of the service and young people. • Support the reunification of children with their families where appropriate.
What We're Looking For: • A friendly, supportive, and resilient individual with a positive, can-do attitude. • A minimum of two years' experience working in residential care with children and young people (preferred). • A QCF Level 3 Diploma (or NVQ equivalent) in Children's Residential Care (or working towards). • A solid understanding of safeguarding, trauma-informed practice, and child development. • An ability to build meaningful, professional relationships with children and their families. • Experience supporting young people in a therapeutic, structured setting.
Why Join Us: • Work in a passionate, supportive, and child-focused team. • Be part of a service committed to helping children reunite with their families where possible. • Receive regular supervision, comprehensive training, and opportunities for career development. • Make a genuine, lasting difference in children's lives every single day.
Additional Information: • All successful candidates will require an enhanced DBS check. • Flexibility is essential, as you will be working across both homes depending on service needs. • Therapeutic training and ongoing support will be provided.
How to Apply: If you're passionate about giving children the best start in life, and you're someone who leads with warmth, honesty, and resilience - we'd love to hear from you. Even if you don't meet every requirement, but you feel you could bring something special to this role, please get in touch. Join us at Bwthyn Y Ddol and help us change lives, one day at a time
