I’m a 61-year-old lady who sustained an acquired brain injury which has affected my mobility and my communication. I live alone and am very independent, but I need some help with jobs around my home and in accessing the community. I have some physical difficulties but manage well. I communicate verbally providing you give me the time I need to express myself, but I do need you to support my communication.
I use a wheelchair within the home and an attendant propelled wheelchair in the community, but I can transfer myself into the chair. I love music, rugby and have a small dog who is very important in my life. I enjoy the company of others, have a good sense of humour, enjoy going out into the community and going shopping. Most importantly, you will support me with some domestic tasks and managing my home as well as supporting me to attend appointments and some local social activities.
I would like my support worker to be warm, patient and reliable, to encourage and support me to access all opportunities helping me to maximise my quality of life.
This role is subject to an Enhanced level DBS check. Full induction and training will be provided.
ESSENTIAL INFORMATION To join me as a Support Worker you will need to: - • Be able to drive and have use of a car. • Be willing to transport me in your own vehicle. • Have experience of supporting a person with a brain injury and those with communication difficulties. • Be willing to register with Social Care Wales.
Also, Top Reasons to Apply: - • Above the industry average for pay • Mileage rate – 45p per mile • Work directly for our client and not an agency (unlike most agency work you will spend quality time with your client which can make a real difference) • Great opportunity for professional development • Be part of an expert multi-disciplinary team • Bespoke client induction and training • Ongoing support and supervision from the dedicated Case Manager
