About us We support families with children between 0-18 across the Vale of Glamorgan in order to build on strengths and make positive changes, enabling parents to feel more confident in managing; behaviour, routines and boundaries. We focus on promoting emotional wellbeing, and supporting positive family relationships. We deliver parenting programmes in a small group setting, or offer a 1:1 bespoke intervention in line with what the family see as the focus of support required.

About the role 2Pay Details: Grade 7 scp20-25, £32,597 £36,363 Hours of Work / Working Pattern: 37 hours / Monday to Friday /52 weeks Main Place of Work: Community Enterprise Centre - Barry Temporary Reason: Temporary position for 2 years minimum (Welsh Government Funded role)
Description: When Section 1 of the Children (Abolition of Defence of Reasonable Punishment) (Wales) Act 2020 (Children Wales Act) comes into force on 21 March 2022 it will remove the defense of reasonable punishment. From this time all physical punishment of children will be illegal in Wales. Police might offer an out of court disposal (OOCD), such as a community resolution or conditional caution, to avoid the potential of prosecution through the courts for low level offences. A condition of the OOCD would be engagement in parenting support which is intended to develop positive non-violent parenting practices, by providing tailored Parenting Support.
The successful candidate will be responsible for: - Leading on the development and implement for the delivery of parenting support tailored to take account of each individual's specific family context - Assessing need, and delivering bespoke packages of support to parents/grandparents/significant others, carers who have been referred into the service by police - Delivering training and awareness sessions - Provide supervision to Parenting Practitioners, and regularly review and address their performance, training and personal development needs - To raise awareness and understanding with families about the impact of physical chastisement upon children - To work in partnership with Police, Youth Offending Teams and the Local Authority - Report back to the police on whether individuals engaged with the support, as well as Welsh Government on levels of demand and parent outcomes
About you You will need:
• Experience of providing formal supervision to others • Experience in developing systems and processes • Experience of tailoring 1-1 support to families with complex needs • Experience of facilitating evidence-based groups with parents/carers/ significant others • Experience of delivering training/ awareness sessions to partners • Knowledge of the Children (Abolition of Defence of Reasonable Punishment) (Wales) Act 2020 (Children Wales Act) • NVQ level 5 or equivalent in a relevant subject • Ability to work as a positive member of the team and collaborate with others
