Rhondda Cynon Taf Council is pleased to offer an Occupational Therapist position within the Rehabilitation Service. We arelooking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join the team in Rhondda Cynon Taff, based at Ty Elai, Rhondda, CF40 1NY.
The Rehabilitation service is a joint working initiative of health and social care comprising of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, an Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA), Assistant Therapy Practitioners (ATP), a Team Lead and a highly trained team of social care staff.
You will be supporting individuals through the delivery of an up to 6-week programme of support, to provide opportunities to recover from ill health and prevent episodes of health deterioration where possible. Sometimes, following a spell in hospital, people can lose confidence and be worried about their safety and ability to cope at home. Rehabilitation Services offers individuals reassurance and encouragement to maintain, regain or learn basic living skills, providing support to enable people to reach their full potential whilst preventing or reducing the need to move onto longer-term community services.
The Rehabilitation service works across the Rhondda Cynon Taff areas.
The Team has an emphasis on multi-agency working and you will be expected to work closely with colleagues from Health and a number of other agencies.
Successful candidates will bring strong assessment, communication, and planning skills to ensure positive outcomes for the individuals with whom we work.
You must be a qualified OT who has experience of providing Clinical supervision for staff or students and proven experience in a community setting. You will carry a case load and provide supervision and support for social care staff.
Along with demonstrating an understanding of risk management and safeguarding, protecting children and vulnerable adults is a core responsibility of all staff appointed by the Council.
Team members work a combination of Agile Working and working at the office base in Ty Elai.
The successful candidate will have regular 1:1 supervision as well as peer-led Continuous Professional Development sessions. All our practitioners have the chance to influence the development of our work and are supported by a strong, experienced management team both at strategic and operational levels.
We recognise that Occupational Therapy is professionally and personally challenging and demands considerable levels of skill, commitment, and enthusiasm. We offer a dedicated in-house Learning and Development Centre which actively supports practitioners at each level to maintain and further their skills.
Our Social Services Departments have benefitted from comprehensive and significant investment in recent years, and we have responded to this by strengthening preventative services which aims to add capacity to the frontline.
You will benefit from an improved career pathway for Occupational Therapy professionals, and an employee reward package, which includes flexible working, Leisure for Life membership discount and access to the Cycle to Work scheme.
Those starting an Occupational Therapy career will also be supported to complete our First Year in Practice Programme, which aims to bridge the gap between qualifying and consolidating practice.
You must possess a professional recognised Occupational Therapy qualification andare expected to be registered and maintain your registration as an "Occupational Therapist” with HCPC on appointment.
Those shortlisted for interview will be asked to confirm if they are applying for an Occupational Therapist (GR11) or Experienced Occupational Therapist (GR12) post prior to interview.
