Come and join our team We are seeking an experienced and motivated professional to join our DoLS Team as a Mental Capacity Assessor and DoLS Lead Officer. This is a key role in ensuring compliance with the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and the European Convention on Human Rights ( ECHR) in safeguarding the rights of individuals who may lack capacity.
You will provide expert guidance to professionals and managing authorities and have oversight of assessments carried out to ensure high standards of practice across the team.
The post holder will be required to quality assure Deprivation of Liberty Assessments (DoLS) to ensure full compliance with legal duties and high-quality standards. To provide advice, guidance, and training to staff (including Managing Authorities) on all aspects of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (DoLS) in law and practice, promoting high professional standards and compliance with the MCA, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Code of Practice and local procedures, facilitating development of best practice amongst professional assessors and other key stakeholders.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Undertake mental capacity assessments in line with the MCA and DoLS requirements.
- Provide specialist advice and support to colleagues, care providers, and partner agencies.
- Monitor compliance and contribute to policy development and best practice guidance.
- Represent the service at multi-agency meetings and contribute to safeguarding processes.
