The core elements of the programme are drawn from a range of options that have been shown to influence positive outcomes for children and their families. These include:
- Free quality, part-time childcare for 2-3 year olds;
- An enhanced Health Visiting service;
- Access to Parenting Support;
- Early Language Development
The Early Years Team is looking for 2 suitably qualified, experienced and enthusiastic Childcare Workers for the Early Years Flying Start childcare provisions - Gofal Plant yr Enfys Gwynllyw, a Welsh medium setting and Little Duckling's Playgroup Garnteg.
One based in Gofal Plant yr Enfys Gwynllyw, which is situated on the Ysgol Gymraeg Gwynllyw School site, Trevethin, The other based in Little Duckling's Playgroup Garnteg which is situated on Garnteg Primary School site.
You will be responsible for assisting the Childcare Supervisor in providing a high quality childcare provision within these areas. You will provide additional support to those eligible two-year-olds, living within Flying Start areas. You will deliver timely targeted support to any child requiring extra support, undertake targeted support planning and implement appropriate and effective child development strategies within the Local Authority childcare settings.
The post holder must have a relevant qualification in Early Years\/Childcare such as NVQ\/CCPLD Level 3 or equivalent.
You must have experience of working with children, in particular children aged 2-3 with additional needs, have strong knowledge and understanding of child development and an understanding of what's required to provide a high-quality learning environment for 2-3 year olds.
The ability to speak Welsh at a basic level would be an advantage or the willingness to participate in the Welsh Government CAMAU programme - Welsh Language Learning for Childcare\/Early Years.
