Location: Working hours can be split between home and office depending on specific task requirements.
This is an exciting opportunity to join Team Caerphilly and provide support across the wider Safeguarding and Review Team.
We pay an attractive salary of £40,221 - £43,421 and offer access to training and development opportunities.We are looking for an experienced social work practitioner to join Caerphilly Council's Children Services Department as an Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO).
You, along with an experienced team of IRO's, will be responsible for ensuring the views of children and young people are heard and championed, with the child's voice being at the heart of their care and support plans. This is a challenging yet rewarding role, with the requirement to quality assure the local authority's care and support plans for children looked after and those what are subject to child protection registration.
For this role we ask you to demonstrate in your application: - A professional social work qualification
- Significant experience in children's social work
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations
- Experience and understanding of child protection
- Experience and understanding of the children looked after process
- Excellent communication skills
- Able to produce reports to deadlines.
- Decision making and judgement skills
- Ability to challenge appropriately
- The ability to work from a strength based multiagency approach
Caerphilly Children Services have strong links to the Gwent Attachment Service and Caerphilly has invested in the MYST Therapeutic Service that provides intensive support to our Children who are Looked After.
