About the role: It's an exciting time in Children and Young People Services as we continue to make solid progress providing quality, supportive services and effectively manage risk for those children and families who are in need, in need of protection and those children who are 'looked after' by Neath Port Talbot. The team are keen to deliver best practice in line with current policies, procedures and legislation.
We are currently looking for a Consultant Social Worker for the Port Talbot Community Children's Team to support social worker teams and management by leading on complex casework management, providing consultancy services and contributing to strategic initiatives. Your workstyle will be a mobile hybrid worker in this role which gives you the flexibility to work from home and from a variety of Council workplaces.
The Port Talbot Community Children's Team covers Port Talbot and Afan Valley including Sandfields, Baglan, Skewen, Port Talbot Town, Taibach, Margam, Coed Hirwaun, Velindre, Cwmavon, Dyffryn Rhondda, Cymmer, Croeserw, Abergwynfi, Blaengwynfi and Glyncorrwg. Our team of Social Workers and Practice Support Workers strive to provide support services to children and families with personalised, creative and outcome focused plans.
In addition to recent direct experience working with children and their families, you will need to have a deep understanding of relevant legislation, expertise at forming strategic partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders and skills at using technology to support process and service improvement. A commitment to continuous learning is also important as you will be expected to assist in the production of policies, procedures and professional codes of practice, providing training and coaching as required to individuals and groups.
About you: Do you have:
- A relevant qualification in Social Work?
- Registration with Social Care Wales?
- A minimum of three years post-qualifying experience working with children and young people?
