Job description

We are currently looking for a highly motivated, Children's Occupational Therapist to join the Torfaen Integrated Occupational Therapy (TIOT) team, with a passion for working with children, their families, carers and agencies that work alongside them. The successful candidate will be based in the Torfaen Integrated Occupational Therapy Unit at County Hospital, Pontypool. TIOT takes a multi-disciplinary approach, working together with partner agencies to meet the social care needs of children, their families, and carers within Torfaen. Our aim is to work proactively with individuals, to promote choice, independence, control, positive risk taking and meaningful social inclusion to achieve positive outcomes in the areas that matter most to them. The successful candidate will have an essential role in identifying manual handling needs, making safe equipment and adaptation prescriptions and recommendations, and working alongside both paid and unpaid carers to ensure safety is maximised and individual choices and aims are central, enabling fulfilled lives.

Applicants will be a qualified and registered occupational therapist with a real desire to improve the quality of life of children with disabilities. You will have experience of a wide range of social care processes and excellent assessment and risk management skills. We are looking for flexibility, enthusiasm, and dedication to working positively with children and their support networks. The ability to work effectively as part of a team is a key factor, in return, we will provide you with a supportive environment with good opportunities to develop your career.
