Social Worker – Children in Need Pembrokeshire County Council
Location: Pembrokeshire

This is a full time open-ended position.

We are seeking qualified and experienced Social Workers to join the Children In Need team within the Social Services and Housing directorate.

Safeguarding and Child Protection are key priorities for Pembrokeshire County Council. We work to support vulnerable children and young people to ensure they are as safe as they can possibly be. The Children in Need Team was established in December 2011 to provide a clear care pathway for children in need and children requiring protection. Receiving referrals from the Child Care Assessment Team, the team manages all children subject to child protection plans, and all court proceedings.

Joining the team now would provide many opportunities to bring new ideas, develop in different ways professionally, and to contribute directly to the work to promote a culture of continuous improvement, reflection and learning.

The Council’s Corporate Safeguarding Policy provides a framework for every member of staff and Service within the Council, setting out responsibilities in relation to safeguarding and protecting children and adults at risk as well as the methods by which the Council will be assured that it is fulfilling its duties.

This policy applies to all Council employees and workforce, councillors, volunteers and also service providers that are commissioned by the Council. Safeguarding is everyone’s business whether they work for, or on behalf of the Council.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Professional Registration: Successful applicants will be required to be registered as a social worker with Social Care Wales prior to taking up their post and to be able to provide evidence of this.
