Jessica's apprenticeship journey
Name: Jessica
Job: Apprentice at Cylch Meithrin Trelai
Apprenticeship qualification: Level 2 and 3 Children's Care, Play, Learning and Development (CCPLD)

My name is Jessica Owen, and I am 22 years old. I have worked at Cylch Meithrin Trelai, a Welsh-based setting in Ely, since January 2021. I started as a volunteer when I was in 6th form. As a Welsh speaker and interested in a future in childcare, I decided to apply for an apprenticeship with ACT. Nearly four years on, I have now completed my CCPLD Level 2, Level 3, and Playworker qualifications with the help of ACT.
During my time with ACT, I have gained many skills and qualifications I never thought possible. I have achieved English and Maths qualifications equivalent to GCSE level with the assistance of resources and teachers from ACT. I have also gained confidence as a person, improved my communication skills, and expanded my knowledge of childcare.
The reason I have gained so much through these qualifications is because of the mentorship, guidance, and support I have received from my assessor at ACT. My assessor has always been there to provide help, reassurance, and encouragement with my work.
All the help, resources, and knowledge have boosted my confidence and increased my skills, impacting how I work with children. It has helped me understand them as young people who are developing their own abilities at their own pace.
