Having "compassion"

Deall caredigrwydd a sut mae’n gwneud i bobl deimlo.

Activity one: A compassionate classroom

You will need:

  • a piece of paper
  • a pen/pencil

Task: Think about something kind one of your class members has assisted you with. This could be lending you a pencil, cheering you up when you’re sad, smiling at you, or making you a birthday card.

Write it down on a piece of paper, fold your paper in half, and hand it to your teacher.

Your teacher will read out all of the kind acts your class has done. As they read through them, put your hand up and tell your teacher how do you think each kind act would make people feel.

Being kind to each other helps people feel good, and everyone should try to do one kind thing for somebody every day! Having compassion helps others and shows we care.

Activity two: New class member

You will need:

  • a piece of paper
  • a pen/pencil

There’s a new person at your school. They are feeling really scared and are worried about making new friends.

Starting at a new school can be difficult and a challenge, some children might feel nervous. It’s possible that they don’t know anybody at their new school.

Task:

In groups of four, write down how would you make them feel welcome at your school and in your class.
