Caitlin's apprenticeship journey
Name: Caitlin
Role: Cylch Meithrin Childcare Assistant
Apprenticeship qualification: Children's Care, Play Learning and Development: Practice (CCPLD)

What I enjoy the most about working with children is watching them grow and develop. Each child is unique, and being there to encourage them to complete a milestone is incredibly rewarding. I also love making the children smile. Being someone who can make them laugh and smile is the one of the best feelings!
The next steps in my career are completing the transition to Playwork course, which is what I am currently starting. I am also eager to complete my Level 4 + 5 Preparing for leadership and managing course. Both of these will help me grow and advance my career.
Completing the apprenticeship has significantly enhanced my skills and confidence in working with children. It has improved my knowledge and taught me various techniques for managing children and how to help them develop further.
My advice to anyone wanting to complete a CCPLD apprenticeship is to do it. If you show that you are willing to put in the time and effort, your assessor will match your commitment to help guide you through the course. Personally, doing the apprenticeship suited me well as I learnt to manage my time effectively and work around my hours to complete the tasks on time.
As a first language Welsh speaker, it made more sense for me to complete my course through the medium of Welsh. I was able to easily transfer my knowledge and understanding of the course content. Completing the course through Welsh, with a Welsh-speaking assessor, made the process much easier for me because I was able to communicate through the language I am most confident in. I will be completing my future courses, if possible, through the medium of Welsh as I received amazing support whilst completing the CCPLD apprenticeship.
