Support Worker for Fernside Supported Living Service, Pembroke (12 hours)
Are you patient, positive and motivated to help people build skills and live life on their own terms?
We are looking for Casual Support Workers to join our progressive supported-living service, supporting tenants with autism and learning disabilities to have the opportunity to work towards an independent life.
We use Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) to help people with developing their skills and wellbeing.
Our approach is simple: we do with people, not for them. We support tenants to make choices, develop everyday skills, and grow their independence.
About the role:-
To support people with everyday life, which may include:
- Building trusting relationships and communicating in ways that work for each person.
- Supporting choice, independence, and helping people to use local facilities.
- Following individual support plans and PBS strategies consistently.
- Recognising what a person’s behaviour may be communicating and responding calmly and respectfully.
- Supporting daily routines and activities while encouraging people to do as much as they can for themselves.
- Working closely with colleagues, families, and other professionals.
- Keeping accurate records and sharing relevant information with the team.
Working in line with Welsh legislation:-
Our support is guided by the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014. We aim to put each person’s voice and control at the heart of their support, promote wellbeing, take a preventative approach, and involve people in decisions about their lives.
About you:-
You will bring a respectful, patient, and practical approach. You are willing to learn, work as part of a team and support people without taking over. Experience in social care with autism, supporting people with learning disabilities or PBS is welcome, but not essential as full training will be provided; a positive attitude and commitment to person-centred support is essential.
What We Offer:-
- Casual hours, offering flexibility to support service needs.
- The opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people’s everyday lives.
- A supportive team environment.
- Relevant induction and training for the role.
- Membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme
- Salary Sacrifice Car and Cycle Scheme.
- Access to a range of staff discounts and offers.
This role requires flexibility, as the post holder will work on a rotational basis, including evenings, nights, and weekends, to ensure the highest standard of care and continuity of support for the people we serve. If you are ready to bring your skills to a role where your work truly supports the wellbeing of adults in our community, we would love to hear from you.
