Pembrokeshire County Council is seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Social Work Practitioner – Children with Disabilities to join our dedicated Children's Services team. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled social work professional who is committed to achieving the best possible outcomes for children, young people, and their families while helping to shape and influence outstanding practice across the service.
As a Senior Practitioner, you will play a pivotal role in supporting children with disabilities and their families through high-quality assessment, care planning, safeguarding, and intervention. Managing a varied caseload of complex and rewarding cases, you will use your expertise to develop effective support plans that promote wellbeing, independence, and positive life outcomes.
You will work collaboratively with colleagues across social care, health, education, and other partner agencies to ensure children receive coordinated and responsive support. Your ability to build strong professional relationships and advocate for children and families will be central to your success in this role.
Beyond casework, you will be a key source of professional leadership within the team. You will mentor and support colleagues, contribute to the development of best practice, and help foster a culture of continuous learning, reflective practice, and evidence-based decision-making. You will also have opportunities to deputise for the Team Manager and contribute to strategic discussions that influence service development and multi-agency working.
We are looking for a qualified and registered Social Worker with substantial experience of working with children and families, including complex safeguarding cases. You will bring a strong knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014, alongside excellent assessment, analytical, and relationship-building skills. Experience of supervising or supporting colleagues and students is highly desirable.

Relocation packages are available for social workers.
The purpose of the Relocation Assistance Scheme is to provide financial assistance to new employees of Pembrokeshire County Council to offset certain costs incurred in relocating their main residence to Pembrokeshire, subject to conditions that can be discussed after the role has been secured.
Financial assistance can be available to reimburse approved expenditure up to a total maximum, not exceeding £8,000. The total is deemed to be inclusive of any VAT paid by employees to suppliers as part of the relocation process. All claims must be supported by documentary evidence that expenditure has actually been incurred e.g. paid invoices or receipts.
