Job description

Do you enjoy supporting families, cheering parents on, and occasionally performing the tricky art of balancing flip‑chart pens, toys and snacks all at once? Do you have experience supporting parents and a relevant qualification in family work or parenting support? If so, we’d really like to hear from you.

We’re looking for a Flying Start Parenting Facilitator to join our busy, adaptable and nurturing team. We’re a group of people who care deeply about families, support each other, and work in a reflective and thoughtful way. If you’re warm, patient and great at building relationships, you’ll fit right in.

About the Role

This role is to plan, organise and co-deliver a range of parenting programmes for families with pre‑school children aged 0–3 who live in Flying Start areas. You’ll support parents either in small group sessions or one‑to‑one in their own homes. Working as part of the Flying Start multi‑disciplinary team, and alongside other parenting facilitators, you’ll help create a joined‑up, supportive service that strengthens parents’ confidence and gives children the best possible start in life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organise and run supportive, inclusive parenting groups for families with children aged 0–3
  • Visit families at home for one‑to‑one engagement sessions
  • Build positive, trusting relationships using a strengths‑based approach
  • Work closely with our multi‑disciplinary team to give families joined‑up support
  • Keep simple, accurate records and manage your own workload

Who you are

  • Experienced in supporting families or early years
  • Confident communicating with parents in a warm, encouraging way
  • Able to adapt to different needs, situations and learning styles
  • Happy running groups and working independently when needed
  • Kind, reflective and passionate about giving children the best start

If this sounds like you, we’d love you to join our caring, supportive team and help families thrive.

For an informal discussion please contact Donna Rowley dsrowley@carmarthenshire.gov.uk
