An opportunity has arisen in the Blaenau Gwent and Caerphilly Youth Offending Service for a Family Support Worker. The post will sit within the Prevention Team and the post holder will work on cases in all 3 teams. The successful candidate will be based at our offices at Woodfieldside Business Park, Pontllanfraith and will work across both county boroughs. It is essential for applicants to be car owners/drivers.
The primary task of the post is the delivery of bespoke family support programmes to best suit individual needs. This could include a variety of one-to-one parenting sessions and group work. The focus of work will be mainly with parents/carers. It is essential to have good IT skills to maintain accurate and timely electronic recordings, via the YOS database system.
The post will require the holder to work closely in partnership with the local statutory and voluntary sector services. The post holder will also be responsible for developing, maintaining and improving participation with families and children in the planning of services and monitoring of outcomes.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to fill this permanent post to support the overall aim of the YOS in reducing offending by children. Therefore, you will need to demonstrate a proven ability to engage parents and make a positive impact with the work you will be delivering as part of our multi agency Youth Offending Service. In achieving these aims, you will work closely with families and/or carers to address the factors leading to offending.
You will be required to contribute to accurate and timely electronic records in accordance with the Youth Justice Board’s National Standards. Therefore, IT skills are essential for this role, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- NVQ Level 2 or Equivalent qualification
