As a Family Connect Worker, you will help children spend safe, positive time with their parents and family members when they are involved with Children's Social Services. You will supervise and support family time, helping children feel safe, comfortable and valued whilst ensuring their wellbeing is always protected. You will encourage positive interactions, support parents to develop their parenting skills, and help families build and strengthen their relationships.
You will play an important role in helping children spend safe and positive time with their parents and family members. The role is all about building trusting relationships with children and families, helping them feel comfortable, supported and respected. You will ensure that children's safety and wellbeing are always the priority, while listening to their views and helping them feel involved in decisions that affect them.
You may have experience working with children in a nursery, school, childcare setting, youth club, sports clubs, family support service, or in another caring role. If you enjoy working with children, can build positive relationships and create a safe, welcoming environment, your skills could make a real difference to the children and families we support.
Every day is different, and you will work with families from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. We are looking for people who are caring, patient and resilient, whilst remaining professional and maintaining appropriate boundaries. You will also need to be organised and confident using IT systems, as an important part of the role involves writing clear, accurate and factual records of family time sessions and significant events. These records contribute to assessments and may be used as evidence in court proceedings, so attention to detail and strong written communication skills are essential.

Our practice is underpinned by the Signs of Safety framework, and we support collaborative working through care planning pods led by Practice Leads. This approach promotes effective supervision, support and partnership working.
This role sits within a well-established and supportive team, and full training, mentoring and ongoing support will be provided.
