Swansea Council is looking for motivated and compassionate Day Support Workers to join our team supporting adults with learning disabilities across a range of community-based activities and work development programmes.
The salary for this position is Grade 5 - £26403-£27254 per annum
About the Role
As a Day Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals to live fulfilling lives — whether at home, in the community or within a structured service setting.
You will:
- Support people with learning disabilities to develop independence, confidence and life skills
- Deliver practical work-based activities including projects such as community initiatives, environmental work and recycling
- Help individuals learn about the world of work and build employability skills
- Provide travel training, enabling greater independence and access to the community
- Empower people to engage socially and reach their personal goals
This is a hands-on, rewarding role where you’ll build meaningful relationships and see the direct impact of your work every day.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting individuals with daily living needs, including personal care where required
- Encouraging independence and participation in meaningful activities
- Working collaboratively with families, carers and professionals
- Keeping clear and accurate records of support and progress
- Supporting individuals in both community and centre-based environments
- Responding sensitively to challenging situations and behaviours
- Contributing to reviews and supporting person-centred plans
You’ll also need to be flexible, as the role involves working across different locations and outside standard hours when required.
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- A caring, patient, and respectful approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently and manage your time effectively
- Willingness to complete or work towards a Level 2 qualification in Health & Social Care
- Full driving licence and access to a vehicle (or ability to travel effectively)
Desirable:
- Knowledge of autism, positive behaviour support or active support approaches
- Experience in social care or community-based support settings

- This role involves working with vulnerable adults and requires an Enhanced DBS check
- You will be expected to undertake manual handling, safeguarding and mandatory training
