Could you be the best part of someone’s week?
At Sense, we believe everyone should have the power, choice and control to live the life they choose. We work alongside disabled people with complex needs to break down barriers, drive change and create opportunities for everyone to take part in the things that matter to them.
We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic and committed Community Companion to join a well-established service supporting individuals across the Bridgend area, with travel throughout the county. This is a truly rewarding opportunity to help someone stay connected, confident and independent, working with people who have a range of vision and hearing impairments. No two days look the same: one day you might be heading to a social group or a café, the next helping with appointments, post, or just getting out and about together. Hours are worked flexibly between Monday and Friday, 9.30am to 4.30pm, across 16 hours a week, and there’s no personal care or medication support involved in this role. Pay is £13.00 per hour.
A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential, as travel is part of the role.
We are looking for someone who is:
A great communicator who’s genuinely friendly and personable
Welcoming to people from any walk of life
Reliable and consistent, someone a client can count on each week
A confident driver with access to their own vehicle
This role might include supporting with:
Getting out and about, from social groups to coffee catch-ups
Staying connected through appointments, post and calls
Building confidence and independence in daily life
Choosing and enjoying activities and outings that matter to them
Benefits
When you join Sense, you'll have access to a range of benefits, including:
24 days of annual leave plus bank holidays.
Matched pension contributions up to 5%.
Free life assurance policy.
Cashback and discounts on high street brands, including 10% off at Sense charity shops.
Cycle to work scheme.
Travel season ticket loans.
Enhanced sick pay.
Free DBS check if your role requires one.
A £350 refer-a-friend scheme.
Free access to over 100 online and face-to-face training courses, including the Care Certificate.
